Player ProfileSteve Chunias lives up to his name and performs extremely well under pressure. He recieved the MVP award in the 2011 tournament after putting up big numbers despite having rotater cuff surgery on his shooting shoulder in December after a minor car accident. Steve was the first person selected to the All New Smyrna Team.

Player Profile Bill "Johnny Wonder" Cohane is a consistent performer who is a threat every time he steps onto the court. He is versatile and has the ability to place shots where he wants to. Bill was a member of the First Team all New Smyrna in 2011, which consists of the top five players in the tournament. He also finished fourth in MVP voting.

Player Profile Karolyn "The Clot" Iacono backs up her confident attitude with outstanding play on the court. She brings a wide range of skills and is considered the best female player in the tournament. She was on the First Team all New Smyrna and plans on taking down Team Med in 2012.

Player Profile Steve McCarthy entered the tournament without a big shuffleboard background, but proved that he is capable of playing with the biggest names in the sport. He didn't stand out as a star in the 2011 tournament, but he brought a calming relaxed presence to his team, along with consistent play. Steve also made the 2nd Team All New Smyrna.

Player Profile Nonni is a breath of fresh air in the tournament. She is liked by all of the competitors, officials, and fans. She brings solid consistent talent to the court and plays to win. It is because of her positive attitude and hard work during her games that her team was able to do so well. Nonni also recieved an MVP honorable mention, and was the first person selected for the 2nd Team All New Smyrna.

Player Profile Andrea like her teammate Nonni, is liked by all tournament affilitates and plays hard and well. She works well with her teammate and plays a good clean game every match. Andrea is gracious in both victory and defeat and is a player to watch in 2012 after making the 2nd Team All New Smyrna in 2011.

Player Profile Kelly Cohane works hard to be the best shuffleboard player she can be. She is above average in talent and is a nice compliment to her teammate Bombs. She has a powerful shot that is capable of creating big defensive plays. However, she has some discliplinary issues that need to be resolved. She was second in warnings in 2011.

Player Profile Bombs is a dominating force on her team. She has good accuracy that is complemented with a strong shot. She also was honored in 2011 by being named to the Second Team All New Smyrna. Judging from her husband Steve and her son Tim, shuffleboard talent clearly runs in the McCarthy family. Bombs could potentially be a big threat in 2012.

Player Profile Gramps is the oldest player in the tournament, but his age certaintly doesn't show as he brings a strong accurate shot and an extremely good attitude to the court. His positive attitude is infectious among both the other teams and the fans. He also works very well with his teammate Kathleen.

Player Profile Kathleen Chunias was relatively unknown on the shuffleboard circuit until 2011. She isn't an amazing talent, but the potential is definitely there. She shows a serious amount of promise and played incredibly well last year. She played well enough in fact to earn herself a spot on the Second Team All New Smyrna. Look for her to develop into a talent capable of becoming a household name.

Player Profile George Chunias is the comissioner of the New Smyrna Beach Shuffleboard Invitational. He does pretty much anything and everything for the tournament. After being appointed to quickly throw together the first tournament in 2010, he ran with the idea and made an extravagant tournament in 2011. He expanded the tournament to eight teams, designed uniforms, set up a bracket, and created this website. He has even bigger ideas for the 2012 tournament, which should be the best of the three Invitationals by far.
