2012 Tournament
The 2012 tournament faced some changes following the departure of Ryan Chunias to Boston College. His brother and league commissioner George took his place and joined a newly created team called Chief's Tribe. The tournament got off to an exciting start with two seeded Team Irish falling in dramatic fashion to the previously winless Sleepers. Powered by eventual tournament MVP Gramps, The Sleepers would finish fourth, falling one game shy of the loser's bracket finals. Team Irish bounced back however, and battled through the elimination bracket. K Bombs and The Iron Chefs had forgettable tournaments, bowing out after two games. Chief's Tribe and Smug Alert each picked up a win, but were quietly defeated afterwards. The McCarthy Special dominated their way to the winner's bracket final, and were 8 points away from reaching the championship for the first time, but a series of negative ten's sent Team Med back to the final. In the loser's bracket final, The McCarthy's battled valiantly, but were defeated by Team Irish. The championship once again came down to Irish vs Med, and Team Med came in a little bit too cocky as they dropped game one. Game two was heated, but the Irish finally put away their arch rivals and claimed their first championship ever.
2011 Tournament
The 2011 New Smyrna Beach Shuffleboard Invitational began in mid-April with a lot of buzz and excitement surrounding it. Tournament MC George Chunias completely re-vamped the tournament format by expanding the number of teams from two to eight. The six teams that joined Team Med and
Team Irish were: The McCarthy Special (Tim McCarthy, Steve McCarthy), K Bombs (Kelly Cohane and Maureen "Bombs" McCarthy), The Iron Chefs (Andrea Cohane, Barbara "Nonni" Cohane), The Sleepers (William "Gramps" Cohane, Kathleen Chunias), Smug Alert (Katelyn Chunias, Jacqui Shepard), and Academic Probation (Ryan Chunias, Carl "Chief" Annesi). George Chunias designed uniforms for each team and created a double-elimination bracket that ranked each team from 1 to 8 and showed matchups. The tournament itself was extremely exciting. Top seeded Team Med was true to form and quickly found themselves in the winners bracket final against their arch rival Team Irish after a dramatic 21 point shot by George Iacono to defeat The McCarthy Special the game before by a score of 75-72. Meanwhile in the losers bracket teams like Smug Alert and The Sleepers fell flat and exited the tournament quietly after being beaten in convincing fashion in their first two games. Some teams like Academic Probation started off strong but lost their next two. Six-seeded K Bombs managed to pick up a win against The Sleepers in the losers bracket, but were eliminated in a close contest against the McCarthy Special. Two teams that became the big surprises of the tournament were the fifth-seeded McCarthy Special and eight-seeded Iron Chefs. The McCarthy Special made headlines both for their opening round blowout of 75-16 against Smug Alert, and for their rising shuffleboard star Tim McCarthy. The Iron Chefs after getting demolished by Team Med battled their way through the losers bracket and lost in the semifinals after a valiant run. In the winners bracket final, Team Irish appeared to have punched a ticket to the final when Steve Chunias made the biggest shot of his life and knocked Karolyn's disc out of the ten spot and replacing it with his own and getting the win to remain undefeated. Team Irish would however get another shot at Team Med after handling The McCarthy Special in the losers bracket final and advancing to the championship. Team Irish was determined to beat their hated foe despite the fact that they would have to win twice to finally claim the franchises first ever championship. However, despite their determined attitudes, Team Irish failed to deliver on the court, spending most of the game with a negative score as Team Med cruised to a 75-22 win and their second straight championship. The 2011 bracket can be found here.

2010 Tournament
The 2010 New Smyrna Beach Shuffleboard Invitational was the first of its kind. Unlike the 2011 and 2012 tournaments, there were only two teams that participated: Team Irish and Team Med. When the tournament was scheduled to begin, both teams were introduced with signs barring their team names, and each player walked under the ceiling of shuffleboard sticks. The first game went to Team Med, but Team Irish remained determined and pulled out a win in game two. However, their efforts were stifled as Team Med won the third and final game and the first ever New Smyrna Beach Shuffleboard Invitational.
